Our Mission
Gramma Has Dementia is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming the caregiving experience. Our mission is two-fold: to provide unwavering support, education, and resources to those navigating the challenges of Alzheimer’s and dementia today, and to actively advocate for the research necessary to find a cure.
We believe that caregiving at its core is one human being choosing every single day to show up for another who can no longer fully care for themselves or navigate the world on their own. We are here to ensure no caregiver walks this path alone, and we are committed to fighting for a future where this disease no longer exists.
Our Story
For Andra Napoleon, the journey of caregiving began at age 10, when she first helped care for her grandmother. Back then, the disease was often referred to as "hardening of the arteries." With over 35 years of experience in the field, including 15 years as a primary caregiver and a decade of 24/7 care for her mother, Andra has transformed her personal trials into a lifelong mission of advocacy.
As the author of Gramma Has Dementia, Andra has dedicated her life to shining a light on the reality of this disease. Her work focuses on preserving the dignity of those living with dementia while honoring the immense, often unseen labor of their caregivers.

Today, our mission is expanding through Rosalyn’s Retreat—a vision for a dedicated sanctuary for those living with all forms of dementia and their primary caregivers.
Inspired by the daily commitment to her mother’s comfort and happiness, Rosalyn’s Retreat is being designed to provide high-quality respite care. We plan to offer a specialized, safe, and nurturing environment where the patient and their primary caregiver stay together. Because the caregiver will always be by their patient’s side, families will have complete peace of mind, knowing their loved one is receiving constant, dedicated attention in a supportive, home-like setting.
At Rosalyn’s Retreat, our goal is simple: to create a space where caregivers and loved ones can find the strength to recharge, and where both can feel truly seen, safe, and loved.
